On World Sight Day 2025, we reflect on the growing importance of vision care worldwide, and especially in Bangladesh, where the need for qualified optometrists, regulation, and strong professional recognition is ever more urgent. As preventable and treatable causes of vision loss continue to afflict millions globally, optometrists are evolving from refractive error correctors into key players in public health, early disease detection, and equitable access to care. Bangladesh stands at a crossroads: to embrace optometry fully, legalize and standardize its practice, and thereby avert needless vision loss and strengthen its health system. ISU Football Fest Ends with an Electrifying Final

The Binary Blasters emerged as champions of the ISU Football Fest Season 1, organized by the International Standard University (ISU) Sports Club. The much-anticipated final was held on Monday afternoon at the Royal Multisport Arena in Dhaka, where ISU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Awal Khan and National football legend Kaiser Hamid handed over the trophies to the champion and runners-up teams. Two-Day Magna Charta Observatory International Symposium Inaugurated at AIUB

The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a two-day International Symposium on Responsive and Responsible University: Global Perspectives from the Magna Charta Observatory Research Initiative on September 25–26 at the AIUB campus. New Sophos report finds AI adoption and threat complexity fuelling increase in cybersecurity burnout in Asia Pacific and Japan

Sophos, a global leader in advanced security solutions, recently unveiled the 5th edition of its report The Future of Cybersecurity in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), produced in collaboration with Tech Research Asia (now part of Omdia). The findings reveal that cybersecurity burnout remains high across the region, with 86% of organisations surveyed experiencing issues (up from 85% in 2024) – primarily driven by increased threat activity, lack of resources, and complex compliance requirements.
