Two-Day Magna Charta Observatory International Symposium Inaugurated at AIUB

The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a two-day International Symposium on Responsive and Responsible University: Global Perspectives from the Magna Charta Observatory Research Initiative on September 25–26 at the AIUB campus. This landmark event marks a historic milestone in the higher education sector of Bangladesh. The symposium was organized by AIUB’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the Magna Charta Observatory.
More than 150 participants attended the international event, including Vice-Chancellors, Pro-Vice-Chancellors, and IQAC Directors from leading universities in Bangladesh, as well as representatives from universities in six countries across Europe and Asia—namely Ireland, Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, North Macedonia, and Bangladesh.
The inaugural ceremony featured speeches by Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member of the Board of Trustees of AIUB, and David J. Lock, Secretary General of the Magna Charta Observatory. Distinguished guests included Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan, Founding Member of the Board of Trustees of AIUB; Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Founding Member of the Board of Trustees of AIUB and Secretary General of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB); along with faculty members, officials, and international delegates from various universities.
The symposium’s panel discussions will feature Professor Dr. Mohammad Anwar Hossen, Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh; Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC); and Vice-Chancellors of leading private universities. In addition, AIUB students will present their research during the event.
