The English Language Club at ISU Highlights Real-World Careers for English Students

The English Language Club (ELC) of International Standard University (ISU) hosted an inspiring and insightful workshop titled "Words at Work: Career Paths for English Graduates" on Monday, 7 July 2025, aiming to dismantle the outdated notion that English degrees only lead to teaching careers. Nearly Half of Companies Opt to Pay the Ransom, Sophos Report Finds

 Sophos, a global leader of innovative security solutions for defeating cyberattacks, recently released its sixth annual State of Ransomware report, a vendor-agnostic survey of IT and cybersecurity leaders across 17 countries that studies the impact of ransomware attacks on businesses. This year’s survey found that nearly 50% of companies paid the ransom to get their data back – the second highest rate of ransom payment for ransom demands in six years. Despite the high percentage of companies that paid the ransom, over half – 53% – paid less than the original demand. In 71% of cases where the companies paid less, they did so through negotiation – either through their own negotiations or with help from a third party. AIUB Hosts 3-Day British Council-Funded Workshop on Inclusive Education Toolkit

The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully concluded a 3-day hands-on workshop titled "Introduction to the Inclusive Education Toolkit: Supporting Disadvantaged and Excluded Individuals and Communities in Bangladesh," held from 22 to 24 June 2025 at Hotel InterContinental, Dhaka. The workshop was part of the British Council's TransNational Education (TNE) initiative under the "Generative AI for Good" project. Funded by the British Council's Going Global Partnerships programme, the workshop brought together experts from four countries and featured ten interactive sessions focused on leveraging AI-driven tools and inclusive pedagogical practices to enhance access to tertiary education for underrepresented groups in Bangladesh. Misinformation fuels youth stress in Bangladesh: 5 digital tools fighting back

Misinformation has become the leading cause of stress for young people in Bangladesh—beating out even cyberbullying and harmful content, according to a major UNICEF poll. Nearly 29,000 children and youth participated anonymously through the U-Report platform, revealing a sobering picture of how falsehoods online are chipping away at their mental well-being. Two-thirds of respondents said fake news was their biggest source of anxiety on social media. Bullying and negative comments came in next, followed by distressing or graphic content. The poll also noted that girls experience slightly more harassment than boys. But misinformation isn’t just mentally exhausting—it’s dangerous.
